If you think fashion only happens in Paris or Milan, you haven't seen Madrid during Fashion Week. The latest edition of Mercedes-Benz Fashion Week Madrid (MBFWM) ran from September 14 to 19, 2026, and it confirmed why this event has become one of the most anticipated dates on the city's cosmopolitan fashion calendar.

Where it all happened

This edition was spread across some of Madrid's most photogenic settings: the Crystal Palace Greenhouse in Arganzuela (which opened the week), the classic Palacio de Cibeles, the Communication and Arts campus at Nebrija University, and the iconic Palace Hotel. Each venue brought a different aesthetic, from industrial-meets-greenhouse to institutional and classic.

EGO, the platform that discovers emerging talent

The closing day, September 19, was marked by the celebration of EGO's 20th anniversary, MBFWM's platform dedicated to emerging designers. Two decades of introducing new names in Spanish fashion have made EGO the favorite stop for anyone who wants to see the future of design before everyone else does.

How to experience it as a student

You don't need press credentials to enjoy Fashion Week: a big part of the energy happens on the street, with street style around the venues that rivals the runways themselves. Tickets for shows and public activities are managed through ifema.es, and it's worth following MBFWM's official accounts for free parallel events.

Madrid Fashion Week generally runs twice a year (a spring/summer edition and an autumn/winter one), though exact dates for the next edition haven't been confirmed yet. Whatever your level of interest in fashion, it's one of those weeks when Madrid turns more cosmopolitan than ever — and something every international student should experience at least once.
