Ever wondered what that palace you walk past on your way to class looks like inside? This is your week to have a nosy, and it won't cost you a cent.
Madrid Otra Mirada (MOM) is a cultural initiative that, for one week, opens over 200 historic and quirky buildings across the city for free. It's not just guided tours: there are also theatrical visits, concerts, talks, exhibitions and workshops.

- Real Basílica de San Francisco el Grande
- Real Academia de Bellas Artes de San Fernando
- Finca Vista Alegre gardens
- Palacio de Fernán Núñez
- Real Fábrica de Tapices (Royal Tapestry Factory)
- Almudena Cathedral
- Galería de las Colecciones Reales
- Metropolitano Stadium (yes, there's something for football fans too)

Tips from a professional snoop
- Book now. The most popular visits sell out in hours.
- Check out the lesser-known ones. They usually have more spots and often surprise you more.
- Team up with friends. Everyone books their own spots, so coordinate to go together.
- Camera ready. Interiors you normally never see = content nobody else has.
